found this video...covering Iron Horse by Motorhead. This is on the new album, so i automatically like it. Some rock people really fuck up on acoustic albums, but i think Wino knows what's up. All of his albums from various bands are great.
My dad and I went to the Black Label Society concert on Saturday, and damn, i just don't like that music. The only reason we went was to see Clutch open up. And as usual, they put on an amazing show.
The concert was at The Masquerade "Music Park." And there's nothing really positive to say about that place. I mean first of all, it's at the Masquerade, so you know it can't be THAT great. And the "music park" was about what i expected. To start it off we bought tickets online to pick up at will-call, possibly my first mistake, but i figured 'hey its 2010, even the masquerade can have a descent will-call area.' WRONG. This system was kinda screwed up. So, as we made our way in, there was a mandatory 'pat down,' which was a first for me, and hopefully a last.
Okay, in the venue and i need a drink with the quickness. Dad goes to the pisser as i find the nearest alcohol stand. Found one, with PBR on draft....am i in heaven? NO. The tap wasn't hooked up yet, so i was like 'hell it's cool man, it only takes a couple of minutes to get it all hooked up.' Wrong again, 20 minutes later i had a beer. They were real nice about it, and only charged me $4 for a $2 beer. They later uped the price to $5 soon after that.
While standing in line, i met a dude from Macon who had came up to see BLS (i felt sorry for him during their show), but had recently gotten into Clutch. I knew this guy was gonna be cool, so we hung out with him pretty much the rest of the night. Come to find out he was a welder and sheet metal fabricator, so we all had somethin in common. Not everyday you meet someone in the same line of work as you. After the first band played, Clutch started warming up and i was stoked, i knew they were gonna put on a great show. They played some of my favorites including:
-Pure Rock Fury
-50,000 Unstoppable Watts
-Freakanomics
-I Have The Body of John Wilkes Booth
-The Incomparable Mr. Flannery
-Regulator
-Rock n Roll Outlaw
-The Soapmakers
-Immortal
Like i said, they always put on a good show. Neil Fallon knows how to get a crowd going for sure..
After their set i was already kinda ready to leave, but after paying 40 bucks a ticket i figured i'd stick around. I should have left. I couldn't really get into the other bands that played, so once BLS started playing a piano, dad and i headed out.
Overall, it was cool hanging out with my dad and seein' Clutch live again, and meeting some cool new people. With that being said, i think Masquerade needs to improve on some stuff. But who knows, they all could have been having an off day, it happens. So, i'll probably go back for another show, hopefully with better luck!
Other than that, life is alright. I'm ready for winter to come,man...thats the perfect time of the year in my opinion.
